Zakopane
General
Zakopane is a very beautiful mountain resort in southern Poland. Located at the feat of Tatra mountains. It lies near Poland’s border with Slovakia. Located in a valley between the Tatra Mountains and Gubałówka Hill. It can be reached by train or bus from Kraków. It is about two hours away. Zakopane lies 800–1,000 metres above sea level. It centres on the intersection of its Krupówki and Kościuszko Streets.
Kurpówki
Zakopane also known for its wooden highlander houses. It is symbols of Zakopane architecture style.
During the winter and summer seasons, Krupówki Street is crowded with tourists. You can visiting the shops and restaurants. In the summer, a local market along Krupówki Street offers traditional Goral apparel. Most of the bars and dance clubs are located on Krupowki street.If you visit Kurpówki street, don’t forget to try traditional dishes like Zurek.
Winters
Winter-Sports, Hiking trails
It is a major winter-sports and health-resort centre. Situated on good rail and highway routes. Zakopane also serves as the cultural centre for the area. Many hiking trails start from Kuznice and from here you can also get to the top of Kasprowy by cable car. There is a network of well-marked hiking trails in the Tatras. This area is often referred to as “the winter capital of Poland”.
Winters are typically frosty but are relatively sunny for Poland. Zakopane receives among the most sun in winter in the country.
In the winter, thousands arrive in Zakopane to ski, especially around Christmas and in February. The most popular skiing areas are Kasprowy Wierch and Gubałówka. There are a number of cross country skiing trails in the forests surrounding the town.
Winter & Summer
In the winter, Zakopane’s tourists are interested in winter sports activities. Skiing, snowboarding, ski jumping, snowmobiling, sleigh rides, snowshoe walks, and Ice skating are very popular. During the summer, Tourists come to do activities like hiking, climbing, bike and horse ride.
